PRESS RELEASE

ubimia® develops AI-powered virtual agents for debt management

The company launches a system capable of maintaining contextualised interactions and managing payments in real time

Madrid, 3 June 2026 – Recovering overdue payments without damaging the customer relationship requires dedication, availability and sound judgement. Added to this is a critical factor: urgency. According to ubimia®’s experience with its clients, up to 80% of accounts that fall into arrears can be recovered through digital collections within the first 30 days. However, the probability of recovery can decrease by as much as 25% for every week of delay in taking the first action. These figures explain why the ability to make immediate contact, at any time, on any day, and across multiple digital channels, has become a decisive factor for collections teams.

ubimia® introduces a new Humanised Virtual Agents module designed to act as an extension of these teams, strengthening initial customer interactions to achieve faster online collections while freeing human teams to focus on cases requiring greater judgement or sensitivity.

Integrated into the Ucollect platform, the system uses Artificial Intelligence, natural language processing and supervised learning to understand open-ended questions, maintain consistency throughout the interaction and adapt responses to each customer dialogue. Unlike closed-response systems, it does not follow predefined scripts but instead manages contextualised and fluid conversations focused on resolving outstanding debt.

When the customer is ready to settle, the virtual agent can complete the process immediately. It offers payment options aligned with the organisation’s recovery policy, generates secure links to complete the transaction from any device, enables instant payment through a PCI-compliant gateway and automatically reconciles the payment without any further intervention.

“The window for recovering overdue debt with maximum profitability is short and closes quickly,” explains Agustín Rodríguez, CEO of ubimia®.

“The virtual agent exists precisely to ensure that no contact opportunity is lost due to timing constraints, and that when contact does occur, the conversation is useful for the customer without compromising security or control. In an area such as this, trust and traceability remain just as important as the technology itself.”

From a technical perspective, one of the main challenges has been maintaining agile interactions without losing oversight capabilities. The platform achieves an average latency of less than 1.6 seconds and instruction compliance above 99%. It operates in accordance with GDPR and PCI-DSS standards and incorporates identity validation mechanisms to protect sensitive information throughout every interaction.

The platform enables organisations to scale operations efficiently and significantly reduce implementation times for virtual agents specialised in different debt profiles, based on factors such as debt age, amount, customer segment or negotiation strategy. It also removes language barriers by engaging with customers in their own language.
